Unless an organization maintains a continuing written and photographic record during the years of its existence, writing a comprehensive history after the fact is nearly impossible.\u00a0 So it is with Post 201.\u00a0 The history lives in memories of members, in searching through old newspaper articles and attempting to decipher old photographs.\u00a0 The Post has many old photographs. Unfortunately, most of the individuals in the photos are not known now. These photos from years past include members who are now members of Post Everlasting (deceased).\u00a0<\/p>

Word of advice to anyone reading this.\u00a0 If you have photos, please indicate, on the back, the names of individuals in the photo and the date when the photo was made.\u00a0 You have the information now, but will your grandchildren or great-grandchildren know?<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

West Jefferson Post 201 was chartered in the year 1920.<\/strong><\/p>

The original charter had ____members.<\/strong><\/p>

The post dedicated a veterans park area in WJ in ____ and a gazebo was donated? by?<\/strong><\/p>

The Sherman tank at the post was acquired as a gift from Marysville about 1948.\u00a0 It was used for training.\u00a0 The shell size is thought to have been 76mm.\u00a0 A number of visitors have been photographed with the tank, especially children.\u00a0 It was vandalized with spray paint several years ago.\u00a0 The post cleaned the paint, but it was quite a job.<\/strong><\/p>

Past fund raising events have been bingo, _______<\/strong><\/p>

Activities:\u00a0 Over the past 100 years, there have been many activities that Post 201 has either sponsored or been a participant.\u00a0 These have included raising flags at football games, hosting dances, turkey shoots, trips to military bases such as Fort Knox, Rickenbacker and Wright Patterson.\u00a0 The post has visited veterans’ museums and various veteran events, has participated in many parades and holidays.\u00a0 The post participated in the dedication of the Veterans Memorial at the Madison County Courthouse.\u00a0 The post had a veterans park built in West Jefferson and had a gazebo built there. \u00a0The post has sent delegates and helpers to American Legion Conventions and District Meetings and has sent youth and staff to Buckeye Boys State.\u00a0 The post has sponsored baseball teams for youth.\u00a0 For many years, the Post sponsored Bingo nights.\u00a0 The post hosts a\u00a0 fish fry twice monthly.\u00a0 A month seldom goes by that the Post does not furnish an honor guard for funerals, firing a final salute to a veteran.\u00a0 The Post has supplied honor guards for schools and for the county fair.\u00a0 Communities in the local area have included our post for parades, carnivals, and community fundraisers.\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><\/h5>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

Post Everlasting<\/b>\u00a0is the final destination within the American Legion where our departed comrades transfer to when they are called for duty by the Supreme Commander.
